Top 5 Interior Design Trends to Increase your Equity

If rising interest rates and material shortages have setback your new build, then why not renovate while you wait? VHD Studio interior design expert, Alana McMurray, has put together her top 5 interior design trends that are sure to increase your equity and make real-estate agents line up to put your property to the market.

1. INTRODUCE EARTHY TONES

Move over sage – ‘Yellow there, old 70’s friend!’ Moving into Summer, we are seeing the rise of warm earthy yellow tones. Whether it be a bold wall paint, suede couch or burnt orange throw rug, this old favourite is sure to put a smile on your face when you get home from a big day at the office.

2. ADD ABORIGINAL & NATIVE ART

Pattern, colour and texture have been big in the design world for the last couple of years which has seen the rise of Aboriginal and Native art. Try incorporating this style into your soft furnishings.  Or, why not really embrace the trend, through wall paper murals or carpet selection?

Check out this stunning range of native wallpaper, released by Temple and Webster, here.

3. EMBRACE THE CURVE

Beyonce once said- “I don’t like to gamble, but if there’s one thing I’m willing to bet on, it’s myself.”

You can bet this Beyonce factor will put off those new build plans a little longer. For a touch of class, add an arched bulkhead, a rounded kitchen island or a cylindrical range hood to your next kitchen reno.

For an inexpensive touch, simply try a ribbed cladding. Check out the latest ribbed wall cladding options from Laminex here

4. TRY COLOURED GROUT

Why blend in with the crowd, when you were born to stand out? Grout colour is often an afterthought. However, this a missed opportunity to add a much-needed punch to a plain tile. If you have a tight tiling budget, then don’t go past a simple white subway tile with a contrasting burnt cream grout.
